Message from the Principal

Mrs. Ford

Greetings!

It is with great pleasure that I greet you on behalf of the administration, faculty, staff and students of Hardy Elementary.

We are excited this year to continue to invest in our learners in as many effective ways as possible. Research has shown us the benefits and positive outcomes that can result from enhanced student engagement in our classrooms. As students have the opportunity to engage in meaningful and relevant activities with each other and their instructor, we challenge them by ensuring that their daily assignments and exchanges are rigorous and promote high order questioning and thinking.

Through continuous professional development, our academic team is taking advantage of cutting edge resources, new ideas and research-based strategies to impact our students’ academic achievement.  Our parents and community are essential partners in this team effort to ensure that comprehensive continuity of effort extends beyond the physical schoolhouse environment into the home and community.

Our primary goal this year is to exceed the minimum requirements of the Virginia’s Standards of Learning for Math and Reading.  Also be mindful that SOLs represent only a portion of our students’ educational experience.  We are confident that when their Mustang experience is over, they will leave us yearning for more life-long learning opportunities.
